ABSOLUTELY STUNNING embroidered caftan from the mountains of Guatemala.
This style caftan was originally used in ceremonies and weddings. The detail of the embroidery is exquisite and features symbolism dating back to the Pre-Columbian era.
In the words of our artisan partners: "It is an art that is, unfortunately, dying because the ladies are not wearing the ceremonial huipiles as much as they used to. Our weavers learned this art from their ancestors, so it is difficult to find someone who can weave and embroider in this style".
We are determined to help keep this art alive!!
The Santa Lucia collection is made to order. Please allow three weeks for your one-of-a-kind piece to arrive. (Shipping times may vary).
Sizing: One size fits most. Traditional caftan style comfortably fits sizes between Extra Small and Large. The feminine drape is universally flattering!
Materials: Hand-woven cotton, some embroidery includes rayon.
* Other colors available by special order. Please contact us at info@larkinlane.com to place a custom order. The weavers would be thrilled!
