This style Guatemalan caftan was originally used in weddings and ceremonies. The detail of the embroidery isexquisiteand the shape of the caftan is feminine and flattering.

Guatemalan weavers are mainly women, who derive natural dyes for their threads from vegetables and minerals. They still use the Mayan back-strap loom along with traditional spinning and embroidery techniques.
